E4: Empowering Young Voices w/ Anterrius Jackson

Aug 23, 2026  •  Pastor Angela Carter

What does it truly mean to hear someone? Not just to catch the words they speak, but to understand the weight behind them, the fear underneath the silence, the hurt driving the anger, the longing buried inside the confusion? This conversation challenges us to examine how well we are actually listening to the young people in our lives. The biblical call to be quick to hear and slow to speak, found in James 1:19, is not just a personal virtue but a communal responsibility, and it is one we may be failing in ways we have not fully reckoned with. We are reminded that behind every attitude is a story, and behind every choice is a young person trying to figure out where they belong and whether their voice matters. When we slow down long enough to truly listen, we are not just practicing good communication. We are reflecting the heart of a God who hears us, who sees us, and who does not shut us out. This episode invites us to ask ourselves honestly whether we are creating the kind of safe, attentive presence that allows the next generation to open up, make mistakes, grow, and ultimately find their way.
